Where do I start? It's probably pretty obvious that I am new to this whole blogging thing. I guess I'll start with what inspired me to begin a blog: my house and my passion to turn it into my vision of HOME.
Please bare with me as I have a little over a year to cover in this post!

---- October 9th, 2015 -----------------------------
The date that marked a huge milestone for me, at the age of 23, I bought my first home! ...A mighty cute one at that. Margesson Manor, as I've named her, is a 1326 sq. ft.,
3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ranch. Both the front and the back of the house have pond views, making this home a dream come true for my fisherman fiance. Built in 2004, MM has some pretty nice features that make it stand out from the other 600+ homes in the subdivision, including: a unique floor plan (only one other home similar), fireplace, finished garage, nice maple cabinetry, white trim, door/window trim, and doors with nickel finish hardware. The original owner didn't do much to it over the 12 years he lived except updating some lighting, adding a water softener, and adding shelving in the garage. Well maintained and nice features, honestly this home was move in ready and could have easily been left as is and still be a beautiful. It sure outshined the previous house we were renting and thinking of buying.
During the first few months we repainted the living room from a strange green to Sherwin William's North Star, painted the fireplace white to match the trim, added curtain rods, and built a privacy fence. These few things made quite a difference and acted as the initial spark that set my home interior decorating passion, and later, DIY/renovating passion ablaze.

As the months passed, I was on a major home decorating kick. My thought process was, "I'm a graphic designer and creative, so theoretically interior design shouldn't be too difficult right?" Well, I was wrong. It definitely didn't just come naturally, I'm no Joanna Gaines. I turned to Pinterest for inspiration and before I knew it countless hours had been spent pinning and I had obsessively made a board for each and every room in my house. My boards quickly became less about what to buy at Hobby Lobby and more DIY-oriented. For example, the pile of lumber in the picture above became craft wood. I began making signs for the kitchen and was in love with the feeling of accomplishment from creating something out of scrap. My wallet was happy too...
Then it happened. My DIY projects changed from simple signs to wanting to update whole rooms. I mean I knew the day would come when I'd want to replace my flooring and paint the rest of the walls, but this was a whole new level of obsession. I'm talking big changes with only living in my house for less than a year! Around this time I met a neighbor, now a great friend, who encouraged this crazy passion. You will hear a lot about him in posts to come because he's always around to help me make my visions a reality.
So now it's 2017 and I've already taken on some pretty decent updates in the past year, and so far, one incredibly large (probably the biggest ever) DIY project this year. This blog will document each project I do no matter the size. I'm a huge believer in progress updates and shots, and while I love Instagram and Facebook for sharing updates, they just weren't cutting it for me. I LOVE the details! Thank you to those of you who want to take the time to follow my first home adventures! Maybe (if someone actually reads my blog) just maybe I can help inspire someone to take on projects they thought they'd never be able to do on their own!
Now I can officially say it's time to kick off my Margesson Manor Makeover blog!!
