Day 2
Step 2: Decide What Items Belong in the Closet
Before I could start my shopping adventure, the part of the project that I look most forward to, I put together a plan of items I want to be stored in the closet:
-Towels/Washcloths/Hand towels
-Old Towels
-Extra toiletries (Shampoo, lotions, deodorant, etc.)
-Feminine Products
-Extra toilet paper
-Q-tips and cotton balls
-Hair dryer/Straightener/Curling irons
-Nail care
Step 3: Purchase Items
The next step was to figure out how to store all these items in a presentable and organized manner. Pinterest is my hero. I found a lot of creative and simple ways to store my items. I browsed my favorite stores online, Target, Hobby Lobby, yes even Walmart. I found a lot of cute baskets but many of the options exceeded my $100 budget. I ended up dishing out some money for the nice wicker baskets at Target, but managed to save money on everything else.

Step 4: Get Organized!
Okay this step was actually more fun than purchasing new things for the closet. It was so nice rummaging through my sink cabinet and closet, purging items, boxes, and creating a place for everything. I ended up cleaning out the large drawer and most of the items under the sink. Here's what I came up with:

Linen closet organization breakdown:
At the top of the closet I put 2 wicker baskets. The one on the left holds my large, extra toiletries and the one of the right holds my old towels. Since I need these items less often, I put them up on the highest shelf. The shelf below it has my nice towels and 2 photo boxes I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I put my smaller, extra toiletries in these boxes and my feminine products. The boxes came with dividers for photos but I used them to sort the items within the boxes.

The third shelf down has more towels and a basket for soaps. The two jars contain q-tips and cotton ball wipes. The jars are actually old candle jars, I just cleaned out the wax and took off the labels.

I used two wire baskets that were previously being used in the kitchen. One holds extra toilet paper and the other just holds my jewelry cleaner for now. The large box in the middle is all of my nail care products

Below the shelves I put the largest wicker basket. Right now it holds all of my hair styling tools. I debated putting my laundry hamper under there too, but I like how it looks right now.

I'm really happy that I've finally arranged my linen closet so that it's usable. I was able to clear out a lot of items from my sink cabinet. There are a lot of things stored in the closet now, but it doesn't look like it!

Better yet, I stayed under budget! Here is the breakdown of what this mini makeover cost:
Items:
- (5) 20x30 Foam Boards $4.40 (already owned)
- Clear Packaging Tape - $0 (already owned)
- (2) Large Square Wicker Baskets -$40 (Target)
- (2) Photo boxes - $5.50 (Hobby Lobby)
- Basket with liner - $0 (gift)
- (2) Glass Jars - $0 (recycled candle jars)
- (2) Wire baskets - $0 (already owned)
- Extra Large Round Wicker Basket - $25 (Target)

The last thing I still need to do is remove the closet door! I'm so happy how cheaply and quickly I spruced up this linen closet!
